Starbucks: Empty Bag to Fresh Brew

NOTE: I (Litsa) went back to Starbucks a few weeks later with my empty bag for a cup of brewed exotic coffee for FREE. I was told that it would not work on these new exotic brews. Thus, I followed up with a request to clarify this information with a manager—-and the answer is, “No.” Empty Starbucks coffee bags do NOT qualify on exotic coffee fresh brews. Therefore, I wanted to update this post so that you were prepared with accurate information when visiting your local Starbucks. (2/26/13)

Recently, I (Litsa) have been enjoying Starbucks’ Blonde Roast at home—-several empty bags had accumulated. I set them aside to give to my brother who drives in Hot-lanta’s heavy morning traffic (P.S. You need a heavy, cup of joe to settle your nerves in that traffic!!)!

Well, today our family was driving into the next town to enjoy a dinner at Outback (with a Christmas gift card from a client). I knew I’d want a cup of coffee mid-day and that my husband would enjoy one too. Since I have us an a strict budget as we pay off many unexpected medical bills, I didn’t want the added coffee cost. Thus, I grabbed two of my empty coffee bags that noted a free 12 oz cup of coffee.

Right at 2:30 p.m., it was coffee time! I was craving a latte! Thus….as the DEAL lover that I am, I asked the Barista, “Is there anyway I can pay you the difference of a latte when you deduct the cost of the 12 oz coffee.” They said no but offered me their Starbucks Reserve—an Exotic, Rare, & Exquisite Coffee———–Decadent!

I selected their Cameroon: “This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is full-bodied with enticing herbal, floral layers and notes of black pepper and tea. It’s a remarkable cup with an important story.”

“A group of ambitious smallholder farmers from Cameroon, where robusta is the traditional coffee harvest, worked closely with a local cooperative to perfect the quality of their beans—and improve their livelihoods—by producing this outstanding arabica. Located in west central Africa, across the continent from where most of Africa’s finest coffees grow, Cameroon boasts a diverse geography—from deserts to rainforests to Mount Oku, where these beans thrive high in the rich, volcanic soil.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this new “Starbucks Reserve” brew——-especially after I added raw sugar and milk to it from the self-service counter!

The doubled blessing—–a new coffee type to taste and a FREE one at that was just what I needed this Sunday! I didn’t feel guilty in indulging in yet another exquisite cup of coffee!

What about you? Have you tried Starbucks Reserve Coffees?
