Cold & Flu season has arrived. Since I am a dental hygienist and work with the public, I am exposed to all kinds of germs. My family has had minor colds so far this season and we hope to ward off anything too yucky. Here are some tips on preventing getting a cold or the flu.

  • Eat healthy! If you eat healthy foods and feed your body the needed vitamins and minerals, you will be less likely to pick up a cold or the flu. I am a firm believer that my juicing helps my immune system stay strong.
  • Wash your hands! Either wash your hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer. I put hand sanitizer in my purse to use after the store and even after shaking hands at church!
  • Get a Flu Shot! I do get a flu shot every year since I am exposed to so many sick people. I can’t even tell you how many times sick people come into my office. But with my vaccine, mask and gloves, I usually stay pretty healthy.
  • Get plenty of sleep! If you are well rested, your immune system will be stronger. Overtired bodies mean weak immune systems.

For more information on the flu and how to prevent getting sick this season, make sure to download this FREE ebooklet by Elizabeth Pantley called A Parent’s Guide to Flu Season.  This ebook also discusses the difference between the flu shot and the nasal spray. I always opt for the nasal spray myself! You will also find helpful information on correct hand washing techniques and the difference between cleaning and disinfecting.
