Map of Water Country

Last weekend we took our boys to Water Country USA for the first time! Since they had such a blast at Busch Gardens earlier in the summer, we knew that they would love Water Country too. In fact their favorite part about Busch Gardens was the water rides!

It turned out to be the perfect day to go to Water Country. It was hot but a little overcast so the sun wasn’t beating down on us all day. I was nervous about being outside all day in bathing suits. We applied sunscreen before we got to the park and again mid-day.

The first stop at Water Country was the wave pool. Every few minutes, the big pool turns into an ocean! Waves make body surfing so much fun. We visited the wave pool three different times during our Water Country visit.

We went on several water slide rides throughout the day. I was a little nervous that the boys had to go down some slides on their own. I wasn’t sure if they would get scared or not. Fortunately, they had a blast and mastered the tube water slides! One tip, some of the rides have a longer line than others. Big Daddy Falls was a pretty long wait since there is only one raft going at a time. However, Nitro Racer had six lanes open at once making the line go really quickly. Since our boys are not very patient, we looked for rides that had several slides where the lines moved quickly.

One of our favorite activities was Hubba Hubba Highway. This is like a lazy river with a big current! We put on life jackets so we could just float along with the crowd! We went around three times and had a blast! My only caution is that you should wear water shoes. Hubby and I both got our toes chewed up by pushing off the bottom trying to keep up with the kids!

There are a ton of activities and slides available for children. I was surprised that my 6 year old was tall enough to go on most things. If you have younger children, there are several kidsiderate attractions.

The last thing that we did at Water Country USA was watch the Aquabatics dive show! This was a great way to end our day! It was thrilling to watch them dive from a high tower into a tiny pool below! Not something that I would consider doing!

Flowers

Water Country USA in Williamsburg is currently closed for the season. However, I would recommend making plans for next spring! Also consider visiting Busch Gardens for Howl-O-Scream which starts September 12th!
