What to Stockpile in the Summer

As we ease towards Summer you will notice the grocery ads changing to reflect the season. There are certain things that I try to stockpile during the summer months as they will be at their cheapest price of the year. Shopping in season is one of the easiest ways to save on your grocery bill. Stocking up on shelf stable items or freezable items during the different seasons, will allow you to continue the savings throughout the year.

Items to Stockpile in the Summer:

  • Condiments (Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Salad Dressing, Barbecue Sauce, etc.)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Fruits/ Vegetables (Preserve with canning or freezing)
  • Brats or Hot Dogs (These freeze well.)
  • School Supplies (These sales start end of July, start of August.)
  • Powdered Drink Mixes like Kool-Aid and Country-Time

Make sure you check the expiration dates on all items. Make sure to rotate your stockpile too with the items expiring first in the front. Check out my tips for organizing the panty.
