I took my boys on a quick trip to Washington DC a few weeks ago. I surprised them with a ride up on an Amtrak train. Not only was it reasonably priced, but it was a lot more relaxing than driving!
In celebration of Amtrak’s 40th anniversary, kids ride free from May 1, 2011 until June 9, 2011. One child can ride free per adult train ticket purchase. Tickets must be purchased by May 6, 2011 with coupon code H859.
National Train Day is May 7th, 2011! Many train stations will have several FREE events on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Check to see if there are any Train Day celebrations happening in your state by going to the National Train Day website.
