Animal Danger: Plastic Objects

M and Chicken with Bucket

A couple of weeks ago one of our chickens was sporting a fancy new collar. We were sitting around the dinner table when I spotted one of our hens with her new fashion find. I jumped up immediately and gathered my troops- the boys! I was worried that the plastic was tight around her body.

Chicken Bucket

She was scared and hard to catch. Capt. M ended up creeping up on her and the “bucket” flopped off. Capt. M is the chicken whisperer- he always seems to be the one that the “girls” trust the most.

It was a good reminder that we need to dispose of plastic objects properly. Not only are pets in danger but wildlife. Keep this in mind when you have plastic objects in your yard and trash!
