Country Life: Escape Artist

You might remember last week we had a dumpster diver leading to a huge mess in our kitchen. Well, our sweet dog Sydney has been charged with a second offense this week- escape artist.

Of course this incident is not nearly as exciting as the time she ran through a grocery store as a pup. She had a blast that day, skidding through the isles as hubby chased after her! Sydney has always had a nack for escaping- jumpingĀ  six foot fences, jumping out windows, and finding loose boards in fences. She is truly a pro! We have an invisible fence now and it has really cut down on the amount of escapes for Ms. Sydney.

A few days ago our dog Clemens was barking like an alarm. He has different barks and this particular bark was an alert for us to come immediately. Hubby peaks his head outside to see Sydney trotting down the road. Uh oh! What a good boy Clemens- tattling on his sister!

The batteries on Sydney’s invisible fence collar had died. We got a little lax about changing the batteries every six months since the dogs had been so good about staying in the yard. I guess our little smarty figured it out before we did! She led hubby on another chase down the street the next morning too since we had to order the batteries.

Moral of the story- change the batteries in your dogs collar regularly AND keep a spare set on hand!
