Daddy Daycare: Counting Change

Hubby is falling into the stay at home daddy roll quite nicely. In fact I am down right impressed with some of the ideas he comes up with. One day he took out the change bucket and had our boys sort change. This is a great exercise for a wide age group. For the younger kids, like Mr. B, it is a good lesson in sorting. He learned how to place like coins together.

For Capt. M hubby had him actually roll the change. He had to count out the number of quarters, nickels and dimes as hubby helped him place them in the rollers. Hubby also worked with Capt. M regarding the value of the coins. I am proud to say that at the age of 5 Capt. M can add up change!

Both of my boys love collecting change which made this exercise even more fun. The best part is they didn’t even realize that they were learning math!

Since hubby is so good at coming up with fun lessons, I asked if he was ready to home school. You should have seen the dear in the headlight look he gave me! Priceless!

Hubby is currently a stay at home dad to our two boys. Capt. M is 5 and in Kindergarten and Mr. B is 3 and loves staying home with daddy all day. Join us as we chronicle our journey adjusting to daddy daycare.
