Encourage Healthy Eaters With a Creative Plate

Creative Plate

We are fortunate to have boys that are pretty healthy eaters. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, one of their favorite meals is what I call a salad bar. Sometimes these salad bar dinners do not actually lead to a salad being made!

The above plate is Mr. B’s from a couple nights ago. He made a creative plate that is more like artwork. But you know what? He ate it! He chose ham, a hard boiled egg, carrots, cherries, tomatoes and blueberries. I would have preferred that he has some green on the plate, but how can I argue with the rest of the healthy choices?!

If your kids are picky eaters, try letting them be creative with their plate. Of course I was always told, “don’t play with your food!” However, if it gets the child to eat, I don’t see a problem with a little food artwork!
