After reading this title, are you ready to skim the post to find out where you sign up your kid(s) for this project!?! We all want ‘good kids’—-our own, those we teach, the children that come to play at our homes, those we share pool time with, the children at the grocery store. I think every kid needs to be involved in this ‘Good Kid Project’ but this project doesn’t begin with our children.

It begins with us (as parents, caregivers, teachers, citizens, etc.).

We are the ones that children aspire to be like. We have to help them overcome areas where they might fail. We have to push them over the finish line with encouragement, opportunities, love, and more.

How?

The Good Kid Project is a Better Homes & Garden project where professionals are exploring 12 qualities that are KEY to a happy, well-adjusted child. From perseverance to generosity to self-discipline….

Oh! They’re listening. My daughter (Litsa’s) knows what Daddy will smile about and let her get away with when she’s alone with him. “Mommy, don’t you need to go to Kroger?” She also knows to just listen to the nagging at home but be the most polite child at school. “You’ll see, Mommy!”

Maybe reviewing these 12 qualities of happy, well-adjusted children will help us all persevere. Let’s review them all and put for an effort to exemplify them in our lives and those of our children.
