Do you eat an apple a day to keep the doctor away? Do your children ask why questions more than you can count? Here’s an initiative you’ll want to engage your entire family in this fall: “The first-ever Green Apple Day of Service, to be held September 29th, 2012, challenges people around the world to work toward healthy, sustainable schools. Students of all ages, parents, teachers, and business leaders will take part in community service projects in their schools and communities.”

Select a Green Apple Day of Service with your children. Allow them to ask all the why questions they can! Answer each one and give them a healthy dose of learning as the help make a difference in their school and community.

This fact: “According to the American Lung Association more than 7 million children suffer from asthma. The Center for Disease Control tells us that asthma is one of the leading causes of school absenteeism, accounting for an estimated 14.4 million missed school days each year.” resonates home with me. My four year old was recently diagnosed as being asthmatic. Thus, the initiative of the Green Apple Service project Clean Up is of interest to me personally.

Will you and your family help keep the doctor away and use this day to give back?

Why? Because you can. Because together we can!
