As a child, I never remember having oatmeal. We were an immigrant family from Greece. Oatmeal wasn’t in our menu plan. I can’t even remember when I first heard about it….maybe in my early twenties as a teacher!?! But it wasn’t oatmeal in a bowl for breakfast. It was oatmeal added to my friend, Leigh Ann’s decadent Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies!?! Not so healthy after all…..But I enjoyed ALL of those oatmeal cookies! Perfect every time……..

My next memory of oatmeal was in little packets of instant oatmeal. Yucky! I ate them because they were so called “healthy” and I needed instant in my teaching days!?! Who knows why!?! Then at some point in 2012, Ashley, How to Have It All’s Recipe Guru introduced me to the Yummy Life’s Oatmeal in a Jar.

I was very skeptical! I tasted. Retasted. And asked to retest yet another jar of her uncooked oatmeal…….cold…in a jar!?! At some point, I got past the yogurt and oatmeal and fruit being MIXED together!?! I really don’t care for my food to me tossed together. But this oatmeal was yummy……….my favorite has been strawberry! My second favorite has been blueberry………and my third tri-berries (frozen) when I can’t have fresh strawberries or blueberries in my jars. I make six jars at a time so that my daughter and I can enjoy them for breakfast, snacks, lunches……at home or on the go! She loves them. I love them! I use Fage yogurt. Sometimes OIKOS vanilla for a little more sugar……but overall….we have been eating them for a year or more and WE LOVE THEM.

I encourage you this month to give OATMEAL a try——and the Yummy Life’s Overnight No-Cook Refrigerator Oatmeal!! January is National Oatmeal Month and you just might be able to pinpoint that this is the MONTH that you fell in love with something OATMEAL-icous!
