The big news for the day in some Eastern states is that Kroger has acquired Harris Teeter stores for $2.5 billion. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in our local area as there are three Kroger’s and three Harris Teeter’s. I am also curios to see if the double coupons will disappear at Harris Teeter now that our local Kroger doesn’t double coupons. Although the news announcement does say that Harris Teeter will continue to operate under the current senior management.

It’s a waiting game!

I know that Harris Teeter has higher prices than Kroger. However, Harris Teeter customer service is superb and Kroger has less than optimal customer service.

What are your thoughts on the merger?
