Life With Boys: Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

I have been on the travel trail since the beginning of July. Out of the last 37 days I have been on the road the last 21 days. Needless to say, I am so thankful to be home! Hubby and the boys where with me for one of the trips but for the last two weeks, I have hardly seen my boys.

The one good thing about being away is that the appreciation for each other grows. It’s like the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder”.

I was talking with a friend on Sunday as we both anxiously awaited to be reunited with our children and spouses. It’s funny how at the beginning of a trip the excitement of being alone is delightful. After a couple of days, the excitement is gone and anxiousness takes hold. Sunday seemed like the longest day ever as I anticipated hugging my boys.

When I was reunited, I received the sweetest monkey hug from Mr.B. I didn’t think he was ever going to let go! Capt. M was all smiles and full of stories. Our hugs on the train platform were the sweetest moments of this summer. My boys had changed in those few days. They seemed taller, Mr. B sounded older and they were both sporting nice tans. It’s amazing how much children change in just days!

Although my boys had a fabulous time fishing, swimming and playing with daddy; they certainly missed their momma! It is always good to have a break from each other but it is always great to be home!

Do you ever get a chance to get away on your own? Do you think it makes your relationship with your partner and kids stronger?
