Life With Boys: Travel Warriors

Last week me and my two boys headed off on an adventure to California to visit family. Due to our house flood back in January, hubby decided to stay home to repair the hardwood floors.

Although I was looking forward to visiting my family, I started to dread the trip. The thought of me taking care of both kids ages 3 and 5 for 10 days by myself had me a bit panicked. My mind was going crazy with worst case scenarios. Yes I am a full fledged worrier!

I know that sounds weird!

Here is the thing, I was concerned about managing the airport alone, the rental car, the hour drive to my dad’s house after a long day of flying and so much more. How was I going to manage two kids, checked bags, carry-on bags and two carseats? Not to mention, the second half of our trip required a four hour drive south to my mom’s house.

Guess what I found out? My boys are travel warriors! They were as close to perfect as you could get for almost the entire trip. I also found the kindness of strangers- I had several people help carry my bags or offer help during our travels.

Now that we are home I am very thankful for those 10 days alone with my boys. Of course we missed daddy and wish he could have joined us. BUT, I was able to get to know my boys even more and strengthen our bond. Sometimes I don’t get that since I work full time and daddy stays home. We had so many laughs, cuddles, and memorable moments that will last a lifetime.

I am blessed and so very thankful for my little travel warriors!
