Packing Parties: Operation Christmas Child

occIt’s delightful to follow Operation Christmas Child on social media throughout the year. Their pictures remind me to use a little of my time (Litsa’s), money, and energy to give back.

As the end of October approaches, I looked for a time in my schedule and calendar to host an annual packing party at my house but due to family circumstances (medical affairs, overwhelmed schedules, etc.), I can’t take on one more BIG project. Thus, I have personally emptied my two large drawers full of gifts to take to a local packing party.

FullSizeRenderOur local Chic-Fil-A is hosting a packing party. Therefore, my OCC gifts are packed to deliver to the local fast food restaurant in hopes that each of these gifts will make it to the right child’s shoebox. Making the decision to pass on our bounty for others to give takes the pressure off of me to pack so many boxes alone and/or with another scheduled event in our home.

If you too would like to donate items to OCC’s mission, find a local restaurant, church, or organization that is hosting a packing party for Operation Christmas Child boxes. A local girl scout group is also packing shoe boxes. Contact your local girl scout chapter, if you would like to give back to families through OCC.

boxGiving is receiving—-and giving back to Operation Christmas Child each year is one appointment I don’t like to miss. My daughter and I will enjoy packing two boxes ourselves that we’ll add to the mission as boxes are collected for delivery this coming year!

Don’t forget that you can support OCC through packing a shoebox online!
