Off Season Swimming: A Robe

When my little girl (Litsa’s) was four, we were invited to several indoor swimming birthday parties during the months of December, January, and February. They sounded inviting for her but as a mom, I was skeptical about going.

How many layers did we need!?! What did we need!?! We dressed accordingly for the outdoor temperature with our bathing suits underneath our clothes (I dressed to swim too since pool parties are distractions. One adult per non-swimming child in a pool is my own personal rule!). We packed towels, robes, and undergarments (for changing into prior to leaving the party since we were arriving with our suits on).

The robes were the hit of the party!

Mothers commented, “That’s a great idea!”

And it was. The robes were perfect when we stepped out of the pool waters to sing happy birthday and/or walk to the restroom.

Towels become saturated with water when drying off and they are sometimes cumbersome to walk around in—-and it was winter. The glass sliding doors at the indoor pool allowed winter winds to seep into the enclosed pool area. The robes kept us warm and comfortable for off season swimming!

As I see my little girl’s robe hanging from the bathroom door, I’m reminded to put a hooded, terry cloth robe on our wishlist this season.

Some accessories are worth having at every age.

A comfortable robe is one of them!

Do your children have bathrobes?
