Dave Ramsey is a name that everyone should know! His principals are life altering if everyone in your family can adhere to them! I (Litsa) loved this particular note of inspiration noted above: “If you want to get out of debt and leave a legacy for your family, study the habits of those who have done the same.”

If you can name at least one or two people, you are good to go! Follow their lead……Not many around us can “live differently now so that they can live like no one else later”!?! This doesn’t necessarily mean live like a pauper now so that you can live like a King later but if we live within our means and eliminate debt, we can live more graciously.

“The habits of those who have done the same…….”

Who comes to mind!?!

My own parents come to mind. They entered America as immigrants in 1975 without speaking English in their thirties. They raised four children here and ran family restaurant businesses. Everything my parents bought was used or on sale. No excessive anything! Rabbit ears on the televisions. Old cars we had to push to start. Yet, they saved. They lived debt free. My parents raised four college graduates but are the four of us—married with children living debt free!?!

I can’t answer that for my three brothers but I know that we are ALMOST there (minus the house–which is in my five year plan)!?! IT is imperative to me that our family GET OUT of DEBT! Private medical insurance and high deductibles these past six years that I have stayed home from work have slowed us down a little but the time is now……

What can we do now? What can you do? Make time this summer to attend a Dave Ramsey seminar or read his books and/or website online. Knowledge is your starting point. The budget is next. Then, the baby steps.

Make a plan. Revise it as needed.

Live debt free.
