Garnacha de Fuego

Today we are headed to Spain for Thirsty Thursday wine tasting! The goal of Thirsty Thursday is to find good and cheap wines for under $10.

My Father-in-Law was visiting last weekend and he brought some wine for us to try. I was a bit leery at first since the bottle simply said Garnacha de Fuego. We had no idea if it tasted like a Merlot, Cabernet or some sort of blend. Apparently, Garnacha is the varietal of grape!

Garnacha de Fuego is a complex red wine with a lot of spice. In fact, this is the spiciest wine I have every tried. It wasn’t a bad spice though. Initially I tasted a hint of raisins. No, that description is not on the bottle but that is what it reminded me of! The bottle says dark cherry and berry flavors with white pepper.

Overall, we really enjoyed Garnacha de Fuego. It pairs well with a hamburger, steak or spicy pizza. I would say if you are an experienced wine drinker, this is a great wine for you to try. If you are new to wine tasting, I would start with something a little less spicy!

Garnacha de Fuego retails for $6.99 t0 $8.

As always, make sure you drink responsibly.
