The heat index in Central Virginia is expected to be over 100 degrees for the next few days. We have had a relatively mild summer to date but things are about to get unbearable.

I wanted to remind everyone that pets and children should not be left in the car. It seems like common sense. Yesterday a coworker had to call the police as we watched a dog sitting in a car for over 30 minutes. I wrote a post last year with tips on keeping your pets cool. Make sure you read over it if you have pets!

Of course you will want to keep your house cool too! The biggest thing is to keep the shades on the windows shut. I came home yesterday with the sun blazing through the windows. Hubby was unaware of this little tip!

How are you keeping your pets and home cool this summer?
