Free or Priced Just Right?

Yesterday morning, I enjoyed reading Ann’s comments over at CouponsDealsandMore about products that we coupon connoisseurs receive for FREE—-or almost free items. Let’s see, I think I enjoyed a few of those perks this week with Kroger’s Mega Event. Spicy Dijon Mustard was priced just right for me to bring it home to enjoy on a turkey sandwich and/or in a recipe that I might try this winter or spring. This item wasn’t on my list of items to buy but being that it was free, it made my shopping cart mix!

Colgate came home with me for $0.25——it wasn’t on my list either! Nor was the Wholly Salsa——free. free. free! Three tubs of it——one I devoured. The others……..well, I’m working on those now too!

But let me back up a moment, I must say that even though these products were FREE——-I did pay tax on them! And I, like Ann, and other couponistas did my homework——used my time and resources to bring home these products to enjoy. Additionally, I used these items to share with others———my resources are to be shared. I’ve always wanted to be a good steward with my time and money. Using coupons is one venue that I can do that——–as I encourage others to do the same!

As I ponder these thoughts—-my own thoughts and those of Ann and her followers, I sit at my desk with three diplomas staring at me. I’m grateful for them——-and the opportunity I was given and took to study education. I’m also thankful that I worked three jobs as a young adult to graduate with no student debt so that I can enjoy this moment——-or my fifth year as a stay at home mom because I acted. There’s always a choice. Nothing is ever free. I vow to continue to use coupons and deals even when I return to my five figure teaching salary——and my four and a half year old already has a position in my savings empire——clipping coupons, searching the best deals, & more.

Maybe we shouldn’t say free? Should we instead say, “The price is right!” on that product!?!

Kroger had Gold Medal flour on their clearance shelf today for $1.00 with a coupon for $0.25 on the bag that doubled——–$0.50 for a 5lb pound bag of flour. Not free——but the price was right! I grabbed a bag for myself and called Ashley (who shares her recipes with us on the blog). She wanted seven bags. I used the resources given to me today and shared them———–if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be who I am.

Jealous! Don’t be. Make strides to join the coupon frenzy——-it’s a part-time job but well worth it!
