Is a Vitamix Worth the Price?

The Vitamix has been on my list for over a year or more!?! I (Litsa) was in love with the features of this ‘high-tech’ machine from the moment I began reading reviews on it—–the recipes I read also delighted the senses. Then one spring, a sales pitch was on display by chance in Memphis at Whole Foods. My husband was with me as we tasted tortilla soup, sorbet ice-cream, and fruity smoothies. With a touch of a button lunch was cooked and cleaned up!?!

Want, want, want…..

That’s what my mind kept saying but I opted to wait and research more about these machines. My husband didn’t say, “If you want it, get it.” like he normally does either. He knew it was pricey and that we had to overcome a heaping pile of medical bills first.

I kept paying the medical debt pile down and kept the VITAMIX on the top of my purchasing list. I vowed that it would be one small appliance in my kitchen that I would use daily.

In March, I purchased a refurbished Vitamix that arrived just as promised. It was like-new with no flaws on it. I surpassed my thirty day trial and have used it daily since buying it. The machine comes with a five year warranty even though it is refurbished. I’ve enjoyed the creamiest, most decadent smoothies ever. Ice-cream is an added bonus but its not something I create daily. I have not yet tried soups but my Vitamix makes perfect bean dips and homemade hummus. Next on my list (besides another smoothie of course), is homemade salad dressings.

Buying a refurbished machine allowed me to save several hundred dollars on the model that I wanted in the Vitamix line up. I have been pleased with my purchase. You can read the reviews on the machines on Amazon and many other bloggers’ forums as you weigh out your pros and/cons in buying your own Vitamix (if it is on your list). I give my machine a V for victory! It definitely has been a victorious purchase for me personally. An easy lunch, breakfast, or treat for a busy stay at home mom is what my Vitamix rewards me with every day.

Is it worth the price!?! Yes. Save for it and pay for it in cash. My kitchen wasn’t equipped with any other fancy machines (like the KitchenAid, etc.) or specialty gadgets so I started with this machine aside from my juicer. Do I need both? Yes. I sometimes use my juicer simultaneously with my Viatmix. If smoothies call for apple juice, I don’t add bottled juice to my smoothie—I juice it and add it fresh! My juicer eliminates the pulp. My Vitamix adds the pulp into my smoothie. My body needs both depending on what I’m eating/drinking that day. Are you weighing the pros and cons of purchasing a Vitamix for your household?
