I wanted to take a moment to be transparent and tell you how I really feel about blogging. I am passionate about blogging and absolutely love it. No one in their right mind would put this much work into something unless they enjoyed it. As with most deal bloggers, I enjoy helping people. I want this blog to be a positive space for people to learn how to coupon and tips on how to manage parenthood. That being said, How to Have it All is a business.
No, I am not going to start charging you all!
But, I do have a goal of making money from my blog. There are many ways to monetize a blog and you will see that I have Google adsense ads and affiliate links. For the Google ads I get paid when you visit this site or when clicks are made. For affiliate links, I get paid when you print coupons or order from sites like Amazon. Now I don’t want you to think that I am getting rich off of this! Seriously, if you looked at the money I am making compared to the time I put in it would come out to pennies on the hour.
Not everything I post contains an affiliate link. I don’t want you to think that I only post things that make me money.
This brings me to another point. I have come across several blogs lately that are posting nothing but affiliate stuff and junk. I hate seeing “*Hot* deal”- that to me is almost an instant turnoff. Plus there are many affiliate links that are just pure junk. I won’t post it just to make a buck.
I research everything that I post here on How to Have it All. I sign up for most of the freebies and coupons I post. Now, I don’t order everything I post- otherwise I would be broke!
I want to always be upfront with you all. I have run into several people lately that had no idea that blogging is a business. My goal would be to eventually make enough to quit my job so that I could stay home with my boys- note that I am really far away (like years!) from reaching this goal!

I don’t know how you girls that work do this at ALL! I couldn’t do it if I had a job, much less little ones, too!
It is more than a fulltime job to run a blog and post all these deals!

Thanks Dian! It is a lot of work but I do love it! It is like a hobby for me. Of course I have cut way back in the amount of posts I do which really helps- I am actually getting some sleep now!
