Daddy Daycare: The Influence of Advertisements

A few days ago hubby and Mr. B were putting away the laundry when Mr. B asked “When are we going to go to PBS.org?”

Hubby replied, “PBS.org it is not some place you go. You don’t get into the car and go there.”

Mr. B “Why? But why dad?”

Earlier in the day Mr. B was watching a program on PBS. At the end of the program they always say “go to PBS.org”. Mr. B had that line memorized and had it in his mind that it is an actual place! It is hard to explain to a 3 year old what a web address is!

Children are so easily influenced by advertisements. It is amazing what they memorize just from watching television. Really companies have children in the palm of their hand. Commercials bring out the “I want that! Mommy can I have that?” Thankfully we use our DVR a lot so we can fast forward right through those commercials.

For now, Mr. B will just continue to advertise for PBS.org! He really wants to go there!

Hubby is currently a stay at home dad to our two boys. Capt. M is 5 and in Kindergarten and Mr. B is 3 and loves staying home with daddy all day. Join us as we chronicle our journey adjusting to daddy daycare.
