Life With Boys: Freedom of Expression

I just love the spirit of young children. They are so innocent and free from influences. Life is simple and it is so fun to watch young ones express themselves.

Mr. B has recently shown his independence for picking out his own clothing and shoes. Unless we are going some place really important, we let him choose. After all, there is very few things that a four year old has complete control in choosing.

He is pretty creative– especially in the shoe department!

(Oh, and please ignore those grubby toes! What can I say, he’s a boy that loves dirt!)

Last week he wore one rain boot and one tennis shoe on Saturday. The next day he wore one rain boot and one flip flop. Of course we asked why he wanted to wear mismatched shoes. He said “Because I can’t find the other match!”

Nope it’s not a new fashion statement. It’s simply due to whatever shoes happen to be in reach.

As long as he is comfortable, we go with the flow around here, mismatched (and 90% off the time on the wrong feet!) shoes and all!

  1. I think it’s fantastic that you go out in public with him with mismatched shoes. :)
