Taking a broad spectrum antibiotic can be bring havoc on your digestive system. A broad spectrum antibiotic will kill bad bacteria along with the good bacteria that your body needs. I had an antibiotic resistant sinus infection which meant I had to be on heavy duty antibiotics. A day after starting the antibiotics, my digestive system was unhappy.

To ease the side effects of antibiotics, make sure you take a probiotic. After a day of probiotics, my digestive system was happy again. There are many probiotics out there. I opted for a probiotic that had 5-6 different probiotic strains. I wanted to make sure that I was well covered. Another issue that can occur while in broad spectrum antibiotics is yeast infections. Taking probiotics can help prevent yeast infections as well.

Not only is it important to take a probiotic while you are on the antibiotic, but you should continue to take it for a couple of weeks afterward. Some antibiotics will stay in your system for an extended time. To ensure that the good bacteria are well established in your digestive system, continue the probiotics! Probiotics are found in some foods such as yogurt and kefir. However, I found that with the antibiotics, I needed to take a supplement to get the best results.

Don’t suffer from antibiotic digestive side effects! Try probiotics!
