When I was growing up my mom insisted that we send Thank You cards to everyone that bought us gifts. It was a time consuming task that I am sure we moaned and groaned about. Now as I look back, I am so thankful that mom taught us to do this little task.
Unfortunately it seems that Thank You cards are being written less and less. Technology has replaced handwriting for many of us. I noticed this year I received very few Christmas cards compared to years past. Is email, social networking and texting replacing cards? It seems to be that way! I still love to receive real mail though- as I think most of us do.
This year Captain M. and Mr. B. will be sending out Thank You cards. They were very blessed this Christmas and received generous gifts from so many people. I want them to learn the value of saying thanks. Of course, the Thank You cards are also an attempt to keep the greed monster at bay!
Since my boys can’t write very well, each person will receive a piece of art. Hey, toddler art is pretty cool! I then asked Captain M. what he wanted to say and wrote for him. It was pretty cute to hear him express himself, “Thank you for letting me open presents Aunt Cathy and Uncle Rick!”
