Big House White Wine

Today we are headed to my home state of California for Thirsty Thursday wine tasting! The goal of Thirsty Thursday is to find good and cheap wines for under $10.

This week I picked up a bottle of Big House White 2010. I have been eying this bottle for a few weeks now. The colorful label certainly caught my attention. So what stopped me from buying it previously? Well, the print on the backside of the label is difficult to read. I finally took a chance!

Big House White is a blend of 22.7% Malvasia Bianca, 15.9% Gruner Veltliner, 15.7% Sauvignon Blanc, 9.2% Gewürztraminer, 7.9% Riesling, 7.3% Chenin Blanc, 6.1% Muscat Canelli, 5.2% Viognier, 4.5% Verdelho, 4.4% Albarino, 1.1% Pinot Gris. Yep, 11 different grape varieties.

This is a great wine for a hot summer night. It’s cool and crisp with a floral nose. The first taste is slightly tropical although not super sweet. Big House White has a citrus zesty finish. I really enjoyed the refreshing finish with the lingering of citrus.

Big House White retails for about $8 to $9. Needless to say, don’t let the label deter you!

As always, make sure you drink responsibly.

  1. Yum. That sounds awesome Renae. I’ve had the Big House Red – now I need to try out the white.
