Try Something New: Golden Zucchini

golden zucchini

I stopped by the farmer’s market last week and came across a beautiful, bright yellow squash. It looked like a zucchini although it was yellow instead of the usual green. I asked the vendor and he told me it was a Golden Zucchini. I just had to try it!

The golden zucchini is sweeter than the green zucchini. The taste to me is a cross between a butternut squash and a green zucchini. I grilled the golden zucchini with a little olive oil and seasoning. Capt. M said he sort of liked it which is a huge step because he does not like green zucchini. As for hubby and I, we loved it! I want to plant some in my garden next year.

I thought the seeds in the golden zucchini were smaller than the green zucchini. The texture is slightly different as well. I have never seen a golden zucchini in our local grocery stores. Most likely you will need to hit up the farmers market to find them!
