I never thought I would say that I have a soft spot for a chicken – but I do! One of our chicks that hatched in June has become the sweetest chicken we have ever owned. She is calm and friendly. Every time I head to the coop, she comes to the door and wants out. She calmly walks out the coop door, around my legs searching for food. Even if the puppies are there, she stays calm. She walks under the puppies legs without missing a beat. And since she is so calm, the puppies are too!

I started taking this chicken into the garden area as I worked. If I left her alone, she would squawk until I returned! The funniest thing to see! Now we let her out in the yard as we do yard work and play. She is part of the “family” lounging around with the pups and allowing my boys to pick her up!

I have no idea why she is so friendly compared to our other chickens. We have raised her the same as the rest. Like any pet, she has a personality! We are enjoying having a pet chicken instead of just raising chickens to produce eggs for us!
