Don’t Forget Local Stores

Sweet Potatoes

Most of the time couponers focus on national or chain stores since their ads are well distributed. For the most part, chain stores will have the best overall price on products. However, don’t forget about your small local stores.

While small stores won’t have the best overall price through out the store, they can offer great sales. Not to mention they are more likely to carry local produce.

There is a little country store on my way home from work called EW Thomas. I have found that they have great sales every so often. Last week they had sweet potatoes at $0.39/lb. Kroger had them priced at $0.69/lb. Last summer I found they carried local apples and peaches for a cheaper price per pound than the orchard was offering!

If you have a local store, stop in some time and check out their prices. Not only is it great to support local businesses but you just might find a good deal!

  1. So true! I find the best dairy markdowns at my local store! And often get great deals on produce and meat from time to time.

Yes, my local store has a pretty good meat department too! Not so much on the dairy though.
