Kroger Savings: Shopping with a List!?!

kroger 001We all know that shopping with a list saves you time and money! And that shopping with a child eats up your time and money…….HA! My daughter and I (Litsa) actually had a leisure day. We had time to check out a few deals at Kroger with a list in hand. We needed hamburger meat, milk, onions, and beef broth. We ended up with more items…….The deal items were Hamburger Helper $0.25 a box, Aquafresh $1.00 per tube, Mentos Gum (not pictured) $0.25 x 2, Suave conditioner FREE—-and a few closeouts….Carrots per bag $0.79 x 2, Pineapple $1.50, Rubbermaid Box sets $3.00 each….and a few requests from my five year old….grapes and pomegranates. Luckily, we paid $33.68 and saved $30.89——-almost 50% off! But we also received a Kroger survey for 50 extra gas points——and have a few more items for future dinners + one set of Rubbermaid containers to gift at Christmas!

But how do you stick with a grocery budget if you MUST!?! I believe that you must train yourself to buy only what is on that list, pay for items with cash (when you are out, you are out), and remind yourself that deals come back around!

Now if you’ve gone over budget like I have today, you must make sure that you are consuming the items you’ve bought—-try not to waste the produce and/or milk purchased. Eating what’s in the house and taking snacks from home with you will help eliminate waste.

If you didn’t stick with your list this time, don’t give up! Try again!

I know I will make another grocery list!!
