kroger shopping trip

I shopped at Kroger for the Mega Event and did a bit of stockpiling! I had not done  a real grocery shopping trip in two weeks. I had a couple of spurge items like the whip cream (dessert recipe coming up soon!), Velveeta Cheese (Super Bowl Party- go Steelers!) and the Claussen Pickles. I absolutely love Claussen Pickles- in my mind, no other pickle compares!

Some of my favorite deals:

Hunt’s Tomatoes or Tomato Sauce (10.5-14.5 oz.), $0.49
B1G1 Hunt’s Tomatoes (Kroger eCoupon)
FREE wyb 2 after eCoupon and instant savings!
*should deduct $0.99 for free item

Rotel Tomatoes (10 oz.), $0.39
$0.30/1 Rotel canned product (SS 1/23/11)
Better than free after double coupon and instant savings!

Hormel Chili Master Chili, $0.79
$0.75/1 Hormel Chili Masters Chili printable
$0.04 ea. after coupon and instant savings!

Kraft Singles (16 ct.), $0.99
$1/1 Kraft 2% Singles printable
FREE after coupon and instant savings!

Pepperidge Farm Deli Flats, $1.99 (Capt. M loves these!)
$0.50/1 Pepperidge Farm Deli Flats Rolls, exp. 2-27 (SS 1/2/11 #2)
$0.99 ea. after double coupon and instant savings!

Of course I can’t write out all of the coupon matchups from my shopping trip as that would be a very long list! I did want to point out one thing- use your free product coupons wisely. I have had a free Oscar Mayer Hot Dog coupon for a couple of months now. Since we did not need them, I was waiting to use this coupon at the perfect time. Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs are part of the Mega Event this week. I strategically used the free coupon towards the 10 items needed to get the $5 instant savings.

Don’t let those free product coupons burn a hole in your pocket- strategically use them to score a better deal!

Totals

I bought 40 Mega Event items plus (2) gallons of milk, produce, Kraft cheese on markdown and other needed items. Of course the total would have been lower if I just bought the Mega Event items. I only shop once every week or two so I always get the regular grocery items too.

Spent: $76.28

Saved: $94.10

If you are just getting started with shopping at a Mega Event, check out the Mega Event tutorial. Also, don’t forget to look over the Kroger Deals for the week.

How are you doing with shopping this week? Score and good deals?

  5. I have never gone to a mega event. I don’t shop at Kroger that often since the closest one to me is about 50 miles away. I would like to do more shopping there though.
