Try Something New: Homemade Pancake Syrup

A few months ago I told you that we were changing over to pure maple syrup. Well, my boys use way too much syrup to keep up with the high cost of pure maple syrup! So, I found a recipe to make homemade pancake syrup. Of course this recipe is full of sugar but it does have all ingredients that I can pronounce so that is a plus!

Homemade Pancake Syrup

Author:
Ingredients
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ teaspoon maple extract or mapleine
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, sugar, water and corn syrup.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Boil for 7 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove from the heat; stir in maple flavoring and vanilla.
  5. Cool for 15 minutes.
  6. Store extra in the refrigerator.

This recipe is from Taste of Home. My boys LOVE it! It is very easy to make and a lot cheaper than the pancake syrup at the store.
