After a workout it’s important to fuel your body!During a workout your body is depleted of glycogen stores and the muscles start to breakdown. In order to repair the muscle tissue and restore the glycogen, you need to feed your body protein and carbohydrates. I know what your thinking if you are on a low carb diet. BUT, your body actually needs carbohydrates to recover. It’s a quick fuel to give the body the energy it needs. Of course the first thing you need to turn to is water. Rehydrating your body is essential to recovery.

Chocolate Milk: Many people say chocolate milk is the perfect post recovery snack. It has the right amount of protein and carbohydrates plus it is easy to make! If you are cutting out dairy, try almond milk!

Yogurt Berries

Yogurt and Berries: Greek yogurt is great for protein. Throw in a few fresh berries for some carbohydrates! You can also try frozen yogurt berries.

Nuts & Dried Fruit: Nuts have protein and healthy fats. Dried fruit will give you the burst of carbs that you need. Need a chocolate fix too? Try these Fruit & Nut Antioxidant Clusters.

Eggs: Whether it is a veggie omelet or a hard boiled egg, you are sure to get protein from eggs. An egg-white feta, tomato and spinach omelet just might hit the spot!
